The two translation agencies from Amsterdam have decided to bundle their specialisation in e-commerce. After Textwerk had sold a majority stake in 2019, the company’s ambition was to start developing new technology as soon as possible. Simply Translate had been developing the desired technology for e-commerce for more than five years already, which provided an excellent opportunity for Textwerk to acquire a share in this.
The founders of Simply Translate (Jeroen van Benten) and Translation Agency Textwerk (Jordi Heres) have shared a common vision from the start; “The translation process should be easier and more efficient”. This vision primarily appeals to customers in the e-commerce industry, which is why a large portion of Linguatech’s customer base is from this industry. The companies have served clients including Bol.com, Coolblue.nl, Expedia and Tix.nl. As a result of joining forces, the new company now holds a market leader position in e-commerce in the Benelux.
The translation industry is at a crossroads. The market is ready for the implementation of new translation technologies. Optimising and automating the production of multilingual content will be critical to the success of translation agencies in the future. The translation sector in the Benelux has hundreds of players, of which only a few develop their own technologies. We recognise a trend in the influx of customers who prefer translation agencies that actively contribute ideas with regard to technology and marketing. It is no longer just about the translation itself. This trend is reinforced by the many acquisitions currently taking place in the translation industry, in an attempt to consolidate the market.
In the coming year, we will focus on the positioning of our labels. In doing so, we want to give all our customers access to our technology, so that they can realise a faster time-to-market. This technology is not limited to fast-growing industries, but is also available to governments that are looking for third parties to help automate government processes.
Director and co-shareholder Milou Buiter is pleased with the merger of the two companies. In her role as COO and director, she will start streamlining processes and integrating the technology and methodology of Simply Translate at Textwerk. “We can make enormous strides in optimising our processes. We will soon also realise Simply Translate’s streamlined and innovative process at Textwerk. This gives us an opportunity to focus even further on customer support.”
Our ambition is to add a third party in the short term. This will result in the growth of Linguatech into one of the largest translation agencies in the Benelux. With our newly acquired strength, WBSO, Innovatiebox and the expertise of investors Evert Dorhout Mees, Jan-Maurits Faber and Jan-Willem de Bruin, we expect Linguatech to continue to grow into a market leader in translation technologies and professional translations.
